About ArtShed

ArtShed is a small but growing business founded in 2010 by artist Kathy Evershed. Finding that her log cabin studio in a leafy corner of her garden had far too much charm and personality to keep all to herself, Kathy opened the doors to her first art class in the Summer of 2010.
Since then Kathy has joined forces with her husband, Rupert, to make ArtShed a family business.  ArtShed now runs classes in primary schools, parties, seasonal workshops, popular holiday camps and classes for adults.
The earth without art is just ‘eh’

Our philosophy

We aim to make our activities FUN above all else but have a serious intention behind our lesson plans. We want to counter the sometimes prevalent notion that art is “what you do when you’ve finished” or “doing whatever you want”!
Instead we aim to teach children basic artistic skills that will equip them to be better and more confident artists while encouraging them to explore their own unique creativity. A typical lesson plan will seek to introduce one key technique (eg how to draw a house in 3D) and then allow children complete freedom as to what their 3D house looks like.
It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.
Pablo Picasso
This ‘freedom within boundaries’ approach has allowed the children we teach to produce artwork of a quality far beyond their own expectations and really bolstered their confidence and enjoyment of art.
