NEW! - Classical Portraiture Course

We are running a new 5 week course for adults in Classical Portraiture taught by artist James Robinson. James studied painting in Florence, Italy and is currently the Artist in Residence at Haileybury School in Hertford.

The course will run in the ArtShed log cabin on London Rd, St Albans on Friday afternoons (2.00 - 4.30pm) and is suitable for beginners and those new to portrait painting.  You will be taken through painting a portrait from start to finish including:

• Canvas Prep
• Underdrawing
• Oil Painting
• Ligthing
• Modelling
• Colour

Spring Term 2025

The Classical Portraiture Course will run in the second half of term starting on Fri 28th Feb and finishing on Fri 28th Mar.  Classes cost £40 per session payable on booking.

Abstract Art Painting Classes 

Fancy a 'journey into abstraction'?  Local artist, Stuart Beck, can help you explore the world of abstract painting. 

Our Abstract Classes run in the ArtShed log cabin on London Rd, St Albans on Wednesday evenings (7.30 - 10.00pm) and are suitable for beginners and those new to abstract painting.

Spring Term 2025

This term our Abstract Art Class will run initially for 5 sessions starting on Wed 15th Jan and finishing on Wed 12th Feb.  Classes cost £40 per session payable on booking.

Subject to uptake we will then continue it beyond half-term.

Classes in the ArtShed

These are painting classes like no other where you will receive expert tuition in a unique log cabin studio setting.  Paint and canvases with cake and cappuccinos - what more could you want?!

​​Our classes in the ArtShed take place in our very own log cabin (the original inspiration for ArtShed) on London Road in St Albans and are suitable for adults of all abilities.  With a maximum of only 6 adults it is a truly bespoke experience where you will spend time working on ‘guided’ projects of your choice alongside individual workshops with a distinct focus on technique.  We paint using water mixable oils and acrylics.  Most materials are provided but you will be advised to buy your own set of quality brushes and a tear-off palette when you sign up to the class.
